Man Shot to Death on Island Avenue
Police were searching for at least two men in connection with a killing Monday night on the 2400 block of Island Avenue in San Diego.
About 6 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the street. Officers found Vicente Jaime Rodriguez, 40, lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest from a small-caliber weapon. Rodriguez was taken to Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to a police report, witnesses said the killing occurred after a struggle between the victim and at least two men. One suspect was seen fleeing east on Island carrying a handgun.
