The City Council may receive only half the 10% pay raise it quietly voted

Superior Court Judge Irving Shimer granted a preliminary injunction requested by West Los Angeles taxpayer and political activist Dorothy Green, who sued the city June 28 claiming that the 10% raises violated the City Charter’s 5% annual ceiling on council salaries. Shimer rejected claims that the council acted illegally June 5 when it passed the raises by violating state open-meeting laws. The pay raises go to council members, Mayor Tom Bradley, City Controller Rick Tuttle and City Atty. James Hahn.
