Wisecrack
State Sen. Art Torres’ (D-Los Angeles) wisecrack that the state officials who bungled the Jalisco plant inspection should “do cattle brand inspections in Bakersfield” is, to say the least, tasteless, and in light of the fact that many lives were lost shows an appalling lack of sensitivity on the part of the Senate Committee on Toxics and Public Safety Management.
In view of this latter title, one wonders if Torres doesn’t feel a twinge of guilt in connection with this tragedy.
As to his jab at his neighbors to the north, many of us in Bakersfield think this is a pretty good place to live, at least as long as we can keep the likes of Art Torres at a safe distance.
