There’s a Hall of Fame for Just About Anything
If you’ve got a sport, someone probably has a hall of fame for it.
Anything short of defenestration--the act of tossing out the window--likely has a museum erected in tribute.
Seeking the immortals in fresh water fishing? Head for Hayward, Wis. As for the sailing hall, steer toward Annapolis, Md. The international swimming hall is in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
For winter sports, there’s the hockey hall in Toronto while skiing is in Ishpeming, Mich., and speed skating in Newburgh, N.Y.
Golfers can visit the PGA greats in Pinehurst, N.C., and the LPGA stars in Sugar Land, Texas.
Race fans have plenty to choose from: auto racing in Speedway, Ind., horse racing in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., trotting in Goshen, N.Y., and greyhound racing in Abilene, Kan.
There’s also track and field in Angola, Ind., wrestling in Stillwater, Okla., lacrosse in Baltimore and bowling in Greendale, Wis.
The rodeo Hall is in Colorado Springs, Colo., while the hunting Hall is--not in the north woods of Michigan or Minnesota--but in New Canaan, Conn.
If all else fails, try the National Humor Hall of Fame (Box HoHo, LeClaire, Iowa). No kidding.
