A key New World Pictures executive resigned.

Jonathan Axelrod, president of motion picture and television production for the Los Angeles company since 1983, said he had wanted for some time “to concentrate on just a few films at a time.” Axelrod, a former television executive at Columbia Pictures, has agreed to an independent production deal to produce an unspecified number of theatrical-release films for New World.
