Wells Fargo employees will get $200 bonuses.
The big San Francisco-based bank said it is presenting 11,500 of its employees a tax-free bonus of $200 each, and an extra day off, as a gift for doing a good job. Those below the rank of vice president will be eligible, and the bank will pay the taxes on the $2.3-million total. Chairman Carl Reichardt said the gift is meant “to thank them for the tough last few years.” He noted that Wells Fargo posted a $47.5-million profit for the second quarter, a 16% improvement over the second quarter of 1984.
