Whittier : Two Trustees Say They Won’t Seek Reelection

Share

Trustees Lillian Singelyn and Philip Ellis of the East Whittier City School District have announced they will not seek reelection in November. Both school board members said they had served long enough and wanted to give others a chance to shape the district’s future.

Ellis, who was first elected in 1977 and is the current board president, is finishing his second term. Singelyn was elected to fill an unexpired term in 1979 and was then reelected to a full four-year term in 1981.

A third board member, Shirley Nelson, also faces reelection in the fall. District Supt. Gary Mills said Nelson will run for a new term.
