An 11-month-old baby who was critically injured when a stroller being pushed by his grandmother across Westminster Boulevard was struck by a car was reported in improved condition Saturday at Fountain Valley Community Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman Saturday said the condition of Julio Angel Martinez of Westminster was upgraded from critical to serious. The child suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises when a car turning onto Westminster Boulevard from Pacific Avenue at about 12:20 p.m. Friday struck the stroller, knocking it about 15 feet, police said.

The child’s grandmother, Bertha Camino, also of Westminster, was not injured but was treated for shock at Humana Hospital in Westminster.
