Santa Ana : Suspect Jailed in Beating Death of Man
An undocumented alien died Saturday morning after what police believe was a beating administered by four Santa Ana gang members.
Later, Anthony M. Perez, 19, of Santa Ana was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on a murder charge.
Police Lt. Jack Nelson said officers are looking for three other men suspected of participating in the fight.
The victim, who had not been identified Saturday, was discovered by police officers in the 500 block of Central Avenue at about 3:20 a.m.
Police at first thought a knife or hatchet had been used because there was so much blood at the scene.
An autopsy showed that the man died from blows to the head and body, probably inflicted by fists and sticks, Nelson said.
Officers arrested Perez on the sidewalk in front of 624 E. Central Ave. Nelson said that the victim apparently was killed and then dragged to the next block.
