Help-wanted advertising increased in June.

The Conference Board’s help-wanted advertising index, which measures the volume of classified advertising in 51 major newspapers across the nation, stood at 138, up from 131 in May and 134 a year ago, the board said. Computed on a 1967 base of 100, the index is sensitive to changes in the demand for labor as well as general business conditions, The industry-supported research group said advertising volume increased in all nine regions of the country measured, led by the West North Central at 14.9%.
