The city, through its redevelopment agency, has purchased the 13-acre site of the former Eva D. Edwards Junior High School. About 10 acres will be developed into 75 single-family homes and the remainder of the land is scheduled for a residence for about 100 senior citizens.

The site on Covina Boulevard near Citrus Avenue was declared surplus by the Covina Unified School District because of declining enrollment. Purchase by the redevelopment agency was approved this month.
