A 34-year-old Vista woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday night after she apparently left her car on Mission Road in Oceanside to walk along the street, a coroner’s deputy said.
Oceanside police found the body of Susie Lee Hanson at 11 p.m., 100 feet from her car, after a resident reported hearing a crash.
Coroner’s Deputy Robert Engel said Hanson apparently left her car to check it or get help after it broke down. She apparently was struck by a passing vehicle. Officers found the car and the body along the eastbound lane of Mission Road.
