R. English, Former Scout Director, Dies

Robson English, former regional director of the Boy Scouts of America and an area director of the American Red Cross in Los Angeles, died in his sleep at his Newport Beach home Tuesday. He was 75.
A Los Angeles native, Mr. English was a graduate of UCLA. He served in the Army, where he received the Legion of Merit and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He moved to Newport Beach in 1967.
Mr. English was president of the Los Angeles air-conditioning company English and Lauer Inc., a director of the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and a member of the 552 Club of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Newport Beach.
An avid fisherman, he was also president of the Tuna Club of Avalon and Newport Harbor Yacht Club, and was a director and vice president of the Beach Club of Santa Monica.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Robson Jr.; daughters, Lucinda Anne and Victoria Jean, and three grandsons.
The family plans a private funeral at sea and, in lieu of flowers, suggests donations to the coronary and pulmonary departments of Hoag Hospital, 301 N. Newport Blvd., Newport Beach, Calif. 92663.
