A proposed ban on new fast-food operations in San Francisco has been dropped by the planner who suggested it. City Planning Director Dean Macris says he has been severely criticized for his suggestion to stop issuing permits to new fast-food outlets for a year while new guidelines for their construction and design are prepared. The reaction, he said, has convinced him that the city should continue its usual policy of case-by-case rulings.
