Viewpoint / Letters : Let ‘Em Strike, Baseball Fans Need a Break
Scott Ostler’s July 25 column made me sick. Boycotting baseball by the fans could work if a national effort was developed. Somehow the point must be made that the fans are the ones who eventually pick up the tab for the players’ salaries. Baseball salaries are averaging $363,000 per year; that’s obscene for a person who works six months a year.
Baseball is still America’s national sport, but give the players enough rope and they will hang themselves and, of course, the fans along with them.
