Taiwan Wins, Will Play Cuba for Baseball Title

Lu Ming-Tsu hit a two-run home run and a triple Friday night to lead Taiwan to a 12-8 victory over Ventura County and a berth in the championship game of the U.S. Open Amateur baseball tournament.

Taiwan completed the round-robin competition with a 5-1 mark, good enough to represent the Gold Division in Sunday’s championship game against Cuba, which won the Blue Division of the tournament at Angels Stadium.

Ventura County, which finished the tournament at 2-3, had defeated San Diego, 8-6, in an afternoon game.
