San Clemente : Acting Services Director Gets Post Permanently
Michael Sorg, the San Clemente Police lieutenant who has been the city’s acting public services director, this week was officially named to the post he has occupied since February.
Sorg, who joined the San Clemente Police Department in 1980, was chosen from a field of more than 150 candidates for the position, vacated last February when Donald Duckworth, public services director since 1982, took a job with another city.
According to City Manager Jim Hendrickson, the appointment became effective Monday and Sorg has already resigned from the Police Department. As public services director, he will oversee marine safety, city maintenance, city golf courses and the Parks and Recreation Department.
