Mission Bay Harbor Police reported the drowning of a young man Wednesday evening at Fiesta Island.

The victim had been windsurfing, according to authorities. Lifeguards and paramedics were unable to revive the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene about 7:45 p.m.

The victim’s name was being withheld Wednesday night pending notification of relatives.

Harbor Police ruled out bad weather as a cause of the drowning. The cove, often used by novice windsurfers, is one of the safest places to windsurf on the bay, Harbor Police said.
