A federal grand jury Wednesday handed down two separate indictments charging a total of seven men with possession and intent to sell cocaine.

On July 29, Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested three men in Escondido and four in Ocean Beach. The arrests were made within hours of each other, but officials say the two cases are unrelated.

The indictment in the Ocean Beach case charged Tracy E. Tansey, 30; Steve Tansey, age unknown, and Edward P. Blanchard, 28, all of San Diego, with conspiracy and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. The three were arrested at Tracy Tansey’s Ocean Beach home, where half a kilogram of cocaine was seized, the indictment said.

Later that day, DEA agents arrested James T. Call, 37, of San Diego, who they suspect was Tansey’s supplier. In that arrest, nearly nine pounds of cocaine, more than $10,000 in cash and narcotics paraphernalia were seized.

All four defendants face a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

The second indictment charges Timothy J. Duke, Leland C. Midgley, addresses and ages unknown, and Charles T. Midgley, 34, of Hemet with conspiring to sell two kilograms of cocaine for $100,000. They were also charged with distributing about half a kilogram of cocaine. Timothy Duke was also charged with possession of 1.6 kilograms of cocaine.

The three face maximum sentences of 20 years and a $250,000 fine.
