Local News in Brief : Passenger Killed as Car Runs Off Freeway
Apassenger was killed Thursday afternoon when a car swerved over an embankment on the Ventura Freeway in Reseda and hit a tree, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at Tarzana Medical Center, Officer Robert Pike said.
The driver, Mohammed Jamali-Ashtiani, 27, of Woodland Hills was treated for minor injuries and released, Pike said. Pike said the car was eastbound at 3:40 p.m. when traffic slowed and the driver braked suddenly and lost control.
The driver was not cited, he said.
