Mayors, Activists, Actors Will Join Washington March
The mayors of New York, Chicago and Washington will take part in a march and mock funeral Monday to honor blacks killed in the recent strife in South Africa, an African-interest group announced here Friday.
The group, TransAfrica, said the protesters will march from the Washington Monument to the State Department, and will conduct an interfaith memorial service.
Among those expected to take part are Mayors Marion Barry of Washington, Edward I. Koch of New York and Harold Washington of Chicago, as well as activists Jesse Jackson, Coretta Scott King and Julian Bond, and actors Paul Newman and Tony Randall.
