Both Ends Burning Heads Eddie Read Field
Both Ends Burning, who set a course record in his last start, heads a field of seven in today’s $150,000-added Eddie Read Handicap.
Both Ends Burning, to be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, was assigned high weight of 123 pounds for the 1 1/8-mile race on Del Mar’s turf course. The 5-year-old gelding set a record for 1 1/16 miles on the turf July 29, covering the distance in 1:41 1/5.
Both Ends Burning has career earnings of $673,783. He has won nine races in his career, among them the Hollywood Invitational at Hollywood Park this year and the Oak Tree Invitational at Santa Anita last year.
Others entered were Dahar, who will be ridden by Chris McCarron and was assigned 122 pounds; Tsunami Slew, Gary Stevens, 119; Drumalis, Laffit Pincay, 119; Al Mamoon, Randy Romero, 118; Fatih, Rafael Meza, 117, and Aras An Uachtarain, Fernando Toro, 113.
