USC’s Ken Ruettgers Signs With Packers : Ruettgers Signs With Packers, Will Give $15,000 to USC
Ken Ruettgers, a 6-5, 275-pound All-American offensive tackle from USC who was the first-round draft choice of the Green Bay Packers, signed Saturday, and the Trojans and Garces High School in Bakersfield will be richer for it.
Ruettgers is believed to have received a four-year agreement calling for about $2 million, including a $400,000 bonus.
He and former Trojan linebacker Duane Bickett, a first-round selection who signed with Indianapolis earlier in the week, agreed to contribute $15,000 each to the Cardinal and Gold USC support group and to establish scholarships at their high schools. Bickett attended Glendale High.
Ruettgers will also donate $250 to Green Bay charities for each Packer win, while Bickett will contribute $100 for each tackle and $500 per interception to a fund for retarded children in Indianapolis.
