The State - News from Aug. 12, 1985
The state Supreme Court refused to consider former Stockton Mayor Randall Ronk’s challenge to his removal but asked the District Court of Appeal in Sacramento to review the issue. Ronk was ousted Aug. 1 after the City Council voted to expel him for filing $2,912 in travel claims that he admitted were false. The impeachment followed Ronk’s acquittal in April on 10 felony charges accusing him of misappropriating city funds. Ronk’s defense was that he spent the money on a private investigation of a political rival, Councilman Ralph Lee White. The Supreme Court did not reinstate Ronk while his challenge is pending.
