A burglar has struck Oceanside City Hall for the second time in a month, and both times has kicked in locked office doors, rifled desk drawers and made off with petty cash.

Assistant City Manager Bill Workman said the thief struck sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, when maintenance crews arrived to tidy up the city’s civic headquarters.

“Just when the maintenance men had fixed damage done to my door in the last incident, the burglar came and kicked it in again,” Workman said. “He snuck in (a) window and really did a number on my door.”

Workman estimated the thief caused $200 in damage and got away with $21. Last month, a nighttime burglar crept in the mayor’s window and stole $20, causing more than $150 in damage to doors and desks. Police have no suspects in either break-in.
