Apparently enraged over futile attempts to reconcile with his girlfriend, a man fatally shot a helpful neighbor and wounded three others at a home in Southwest Los Angeles, police said Wednesday.

George Domio, 28, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder in the Tuesday night death of Lee Kitchens, 22, and on suspicion of attempted murder in the wounding of his girlfriend’s mother, Sandra Porche, 41;, her brother, Elmore Porche, 21, and a family friend, Ron Williams, 32.

Detective John Bunch of the Southwest Division said Kathy Porche, 23, the mother of Domio’s 7-week-old son, hid in a closet of the home in the 1300 block of West 42nd Street during the shooting.

“The only motive we can come up with is he wanted to get back and she didn’t,” Bunch said. “He just finally went over there to take care of business.”

Kitchens, shot in the head, died early Wednesday at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital.

Bunch said that Kitchens drove Domio to the Porche home and was shot in the car outside the residence before Domio wounded the other three.

After the shooting, the detective said, Domio drove about nine blocks and dumped the wounded Kitchens at 50th Street and Normandie Avenue, then went to his parents’ home on 65th Street, where he had been staying since breaking up with his girlfriend about two months ago.

When Domio’s parents saw blood on his clothes, Bunch said, they called paramedics, who summoned police. Investigators arrested Domio after finding a revolver on the blood-stained front seat of a car parked nearby.

A Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital spokesman said Sandra Porche was in fair condition with a gunshot wound in the back. Williams, who was shot in the face, was in stable condition at County-USC Medical Center. Elmore Porche was treated there for a face wound.
