The Region : Jet Passengers Stranded
A service problem delayed a People Express flight from New Jersey to Los Angeles for 14 hours, leaving several hundred passengers stranded at Newark Airport. Angry passengers complained that the airline, after loading the Boeing 747 Tuesday night, told the passengers to leave the craft about midnight and let them wait at the terminal for hours without food or information. Russell Marchetta, a spokesman for the airline, said the airline had not canceled the flight and had no legal obligations to the passengers except getting them to Los Angeles.
