The Lakers have signed veteran guard Mike McGee to a four-year contract. McGee, who was a free agent, agreed to the contract more than two weeks ago, but it was not signed until Thursday.

McGee’s contract is believed to total $1 million, all of it guaranteed. McGee made $200,000 last season.

McGee, 26, a 6-6 guard, was the Lakers’ first draft choice in 1981 and has been a member of two championship teams. His scoring average has improved steadily, to 10.2 last season. The ex-Michigan star had a .594 field-goal percentage in 1983-84, highest ever by an NBA guard.
