Robber Shoots Pair, Flees With $96,000
The owners of a Boyle Heights check-cashing firm were reported in stable condition Friday at County-USC Medical Center after being shot by a robber who fled with $96,000 in cash, Los Angeles police said.
Investigators said Young Im, 41, had just returned from a bank with a briefcase containing the cash when the robber accosted him. In the ensuing struggle, both Im and his wife, Su, were shot. The robber fled from the shop on South Soto Street in a car.
