AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: It’s true--what goes around comes around. Nick Lowe was having problems getting CBS Records excited about his new album until he received a helping hand from Huey Lewis and the News. Lewis’ band volunteered to record an additional song with Lowe, “I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock ‘n’ Roll),” which is now the upcoming single on Lowe’s LP “The Rose of England.” Lewis was returning a favor: Years ago, Lowe hired Lewis’ old band, Clover, to play on the debut album of a brash young songwriter he was producing--Elvis Costello. . . . Deborah Harry is making a comeback. Her first step--a new track on the upcoming film “Krush Groove” sound-track album, due out next month from Warner Films. The new Harry song, “Feel the Spin,” is produced by dance-master Jellybean Benitez. . . . And the Three O’Clock’s’ lead guitarist, Louis Gutierrez, has left the band, citing “musical differences.” Gutierrez will form a new group, and is also at work on the score for the upcoming film, “Cutting Loose.” With the band heading out on a lengthy tour with R.E.M., he’ll be replaced by Patrick Winningham, a San Francisco-based guitarist who made a brief appearance in “St. Elmo’s Fire,” a film that co-starred his sister, Mare Winningham. . . . And Phil Collins--not Julian Lennon, as reported here last week--will perform the theme song (titled “Separate Lives”) for the upcoming film “White Knights,” starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines.
