Garden Grove : One Dead, One Hurt in Chain-Reaction Crash

Share

A 27-year-old man was killed and a teen-age boy was critically injured early Saturday in a three-car collision on the Garden Grove Freeway east of Euclid Street, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The chain-reaction collision began at about 1:45 a.m. when the teen-ager and another driver traveling west on the freeway both tried to move into the same lane of traffic, a CHP dispatcher said.

The car driven by the teen-ager, who authorities declined to identify, was then struck by a third car driven by Timothy Hugh Stires, who was tossed onto the pavement and died at the scene.

The teen-ager was taken to Fountain Valley Trauma Center and was reported in critical condition, the dispatcher said.
