Lobster Intended for Tokyo Aquarium Dies

BOSTON —
A 2 1/2-foot long, 25-pound lobster that the New England Aquarium planned to give to an aquarium in Tokyo died in an accident while awaiting its trip to the Orient, aquarium officials said Monday.
The mammoth crustacean was killed when pipes filled with water and chemicals to cool its tank burst, contaminating the lobster’s water and raising the temperature to about 70 degrees, said Paul Sieswerda, curator of fishes and mammals.
