The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office Tuesday filed murder charges against a 15-year-old Canoga Park boy in the fatal shooting of another teen-ager outside a Van Nuys teen club Saturday.
The suspect, whose name was not released because of his age, is to be arraigned this morning in Sylmar Juvenile Court on one count of murder, Deputy Dist. Atty. Cesar Sarmiento said.
He is accused of shooting Mark Miller, 15, of Hollywood with a small-caliber handgun. Police said the shooting followed a quarrel in the Hot Trax disco over the suspect’s comment about the hair of Miller’s 13-year-old girlfriend.
If convicted, the juvenile could be sentenced to the California Youth Authority until age 25, Sarmiento said.
Sarmiento said he has not decided whether to file charges against Tony Nguyen, 21, also of Canoga Park, who police said was present when Miller was killed. The two suspects fled on Nguyen’s motorcycle and were apprehended later, hiding in a garage in Granada Hills, police said.
Nguyen, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in Van Nuys Jail without bail, police said.
