Twelve candidates have filed to run for three seats on the Lynwood City Council in the Nov. 5 election.
Most Southeast-area city councils will hold their next elections in April. However, Lynwood will consolidate its election with that of the Lynwood school board, an action allowed under a 1981 state law.
Council incumbents James Rowe, E. L. Morris and Louis Thompson plan to seek reelection to their four-year terms. Rowe has served more than 18 years on the council at different intervals. Morris is seeking his fourth term, Thompson his second.
The challengers are retired educator Louis Heine, financial accounting supervisor Evelyn Wells, dentist Carlos Manlapaz, businessman Alfreddie Johnson Jr., businessman Lee Sampson, environmentalist David James Willis Jr., business consultant Benito Miranda, real estate broker Iris Pygatt and carpenter Charles Dickens.
