‘Boom Boom’ Mancini Retires

NEW YORK —
Ray (Boom Boom) Mancini, the World Boxing Assn. lightweight champion from 1982-1984, today announced his retirement from boxing. Mancini, who failed to win back his title on Feb. 16 when he dropped a bloody 15-round decision to Livingstone Bramble, said there was nothing left for him to accomplish in boxing after having won the world title and gained financial security.
