U.S. Volleyball Team Beats Soviets Again

PORTLAND, Ore. — The United States men’s national volleyball team beat the Soviet Union’s national squad for the second time in four days, 15-8, 15-9, 15-8, Wednesday night before a sellout crowd of 12,500 at the Portland Coliseum.
The victory came after a 3-0 sweep over the Soviets Sunday night in Seattle.
Three Californians led the victory--setter Jeff Stork of Topanga Canyon, outside hitter Pat Powers of Malibu and middle blocker Steve Timmons of Newport Beach.
