Nine people were arrested in a raid on a suspected methamphetamine manufacturing and selling ring, police said Friday.

Russell Michael Powers, 27, of La Mesa, was arrested Thursday night in his apartment next door to what police believe was a working methamphetamine lab. Police reported recovering six gallons of a liquid believed to be raw methamphetamine, half-an-ounce of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana, hypodermic needles and several weapons.

Eight El Cajon residents, six of whom lived on or near the 900 block of 3rd Street, were arrested earlier in the day.

In those arrests, police recovered four ounces of methamphetamine, hypodermic needles, scales, packing materials and instructions for making methamphetamine.

The suspects were booked into County Jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics and other offenses. El Cajon police said the Narcotics Task Force, U.S. Customs agents and other police agencies cooperated in the raids.
