Oregon State and UCLA are negotiating with a New York promoter to play their opening football game next season in England. The game, originally scheduled for Nov. 1, 1986, would be played on Aug. 30, a Saturday night.

Peter Dalis, the UCLA athletic director, made the first contact in March with a representative of Video Spec, which Dalis says is working on promoting a series of five college games over five years in London.

“We (UCLA and OSU) played in Tokyo in 1980 at the Mirage (Bowl), so they were interested in having us play the first game in London,” Dalis said.
