The Mayor’s School Plan

Share

Years ago as a volunteer worker, working with children at Juvenile Hall through the Council of Jewish Women, I felt that if you removed the children from their environment partially, such as sending them to a boarding school, where the incentive is study- and career-oriented, they not only would improve themselves but also when returning home periodically might inspire the parents to change. No way could I see change in the children while under the influence and domination of parents who are struggling to survive, burdened with a lack of education and consequently unable to cope with raising a family.

I think Tom Bradley’s idea is a good one.

Of course it should be done on a voluntary basis not a punitive one. I can see many parents delighted to be rid of responsibilities.

I can go on and on; however, working out a plan should not be difficult with Tom Bradley at the helm.
