A 20-year battle over child-support payments resulted in the shooting of a woman in the backyard of her San Pedro home and the arrest of her former husband, police said. Maxine Weiswasser, 50, was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the head following the shooting at her home in the 1000 block of Bloomwood Avenue. Her former husband, Dr. Lawrence Weiswasser, 51, was arrested at his Hollywood home. According to family members, the couple had been feuding since the 1960s over alimony and support payments.
