Dickerson Will Miss Reunion With James

Eric Dickerson apparently will miss a reunion with the "other" running back from SMU in Anaheim Stadium Saturday night.

Craig James, who alternated with Dickerson for three years in college, is in his second season with the New England Patriots, who play the Rams in the exhibition finale for both.

"I'd love to have played against him," James said by phone Wednesday. "I'm gonna try to get hold of him in the next few days and make him take me out and buy me dinner.

"That son of a gun, every time he and I went out I knew I had less money in my pocket than him, but I always ended up buying. It never failed. He hasn't changed, huh?"

James seemed concerned about Dickerson's holdout.

"It doesn't seem like they're even talking," he said. "Man, I'll tell you, that's not very good.

"I wish him well, and I do think he deserves to be paid as high as any back in professional football."
