Preliminary autopsy findings failed to reveal the cause of death of Lannie S. McCoy, 35, who died after being shot by Los Angeles police with a high-voltage Taser gun. The results of further examination, including toxicological tests, will be available in several weeks, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said. Police said they fired three Taser darts at McCoy after he ignored repeated orders to drop a knife and screwdriver with which he was stabbing the ground in front of his apartment in the Rampart area. McCoy, suspected of being under the influence of drugs, collapsed while undergoing subsequent psychological evaluation at the medical center’s psychiatric ward.
