San Diego

An 11-year-old San Diego boy died Sunday evening shortly after police said he ran out in front of a car and was struck while playing on a street in Logan Heights.

A spokesman for Children’s Hospital, Jim Boylan, said the boy died shortly before 7 p.m. The boy’s name had not been released Sunday night.

Police said the accident occurred in the 2000 block of Kearney Avenue and that the driver of the automobile appeared not to have been at fault.

Paramedics picked up the boy at 3:45 p.m. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, a paramedic dispatcher said.
