Veteran guard Quinn Buckner was traded to the Indiana Pacers from the Boston Celtics for an option of a second-round pick to be exercised before 1990, the Celtics said.
Buckner, who played three seasons for Boston, averaged 4.8 points per game as a starter and reserve player for the Celtics. He was acquired in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks for the rights to Dave Cowens on Sept. 28, 1982.
Buckner, a nine-year NBA veteran, was Milwaukee’s first-round draft pick in 1976.
He played six seasons for the Bucks after a distinguished collegiate career at Indiana University, where he co-captained the Hoosiers to the NCAA championship in 1976.
