A measure requiring that all California Lottery tickets be printed in the state was withdrawn by its author, Assemblyman Rusty Areias (D-Los Banos), after opposing senators said it might stir other states to protect their own products at the expense of California industry. Areias had submitted the bill when legal action by the Georgia printing firm Dittler Bros. Inc. ended the plans of Scientific Games Inc. to print the tickets in Gilroy, Calif. That left the Georgia company, which has an exclusive 25-year contract to print Scientific Games’ tickets, with a temporary monopoly.
