Why Pay Good Money to Highway Robbers?
It was recently announced that Dallas Cowboy running back Tony Dorsett’s new contract features an annuity paying $300,000 a year from 1993 to 2012 and $850,000 worth of Dallas real estate, plus around $500,000 a year in salary from 1985 to 1989. The whole bundle is worth $9.6 million, not including any interest on investments.
When Eric Dickerson finally signs with the Rams, Dorsett’s figures will probably pale in comparison.
These are just two of the many athletes in football, baseball and basketball who are making monkeys of the spectators who are paying the freight for these opportunistic quick-buck artists. Anyone who would enter a sports stadium to watch these legalized robbers run around on grass or hardwood is lacking between the ears.
