A three-judge state appeals court panel in San Francisco will receive arguments in the prolonged battle by the City of Oakland to reclaim the Raiders professional football team from Los Angeles through eminent domain. If the panel rules in Oakland’s favor, another hearing will be held in Monterey County Superior Court to set the price Oakland would have to pay for the team--anywhere from $80 million to $100 million. If Oakland loses, it will be responsible for nearly $30 million in legal costs incurred by the Raiders. In that event, attorneys said, the case will be over for all practical purposes. If Raiders owner Al Davis loses, he would be able to appeal to the state Supreme Court. There has been a series of hearings, rulings and appeals for more than five years.
