Saying it is finally satisfied with corrective actions taken by General Electric, the Air Force lifted a ban that had prevented the awarding of new defense contracts to GE’s re-entry systems operation unit. At one point, the entire corporation had been banned from receiving new government contracts because of irregularities within the unit. Last March 28, GE was suspended from doing any business with the federal government because of an indictment returned March 26 alleging that the firm had defrauded the Pentagon on a warhead contract.
