Nu-Med Inc., an Encino-based hospital chain, has reached preliminary agreements to acquire two psychiatric hospital firms in separate transactions. Terms of the proposed cash deals for Hospital Group of America, based in McLean, Va., and Maxim Healthcare of Philadelphia were not disclosed. Nu-Med, with annual sales of more than $200 million, owns and operates 16 hospitals and 11 medical office buildings in the United States and England.
