One person was killed and six others were injured in a head-on collision in Ramona. The accident occurred about 3 p.m. on the westbound side of California 78, east of Old Julian Highway. A California Highway Patrol spokesman said an eastbound vehicle driven by James Cregg, 33, of Spring Valley, drifted over the median and collided with a vehicle driven by Sandra Black, 39, of Oceanside, who sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Pomerado Hospital. Ruth Bounds, 88, of Oceanside, who was a passenger in the Black vehicle, was fatally injured. Also injured in the Black vehicle were Raymond Hall, 15, who was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Children’s Hospital, and Brandi-Lin Hall, 17, who was taken to Pomerado Hospital. Passengers in the Cregg vehicle were identified as Dianna Cregg, 7, and Rachael Cregg, 5, who were taken to Children’s Hospital. James Cregg was injured but reportedly refused treatment.
